Han Groen-Prakken Psychoanalytic Institute for Eastern Europe was a joint creation of the International Psychoanalytical Association (IPA) and the European Psychoanalytical Federation (EPF).

The Mission of the Institute was to provide training to assure the effective development of psychoanalysis in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Now a new Institute has been created and here you can read the first Circular Letter to members and candidates of the old PIEE and new EPI:

Dear colleagues - EPI candidates, registered analysands and members,

In this brief circular letter we would like to inform you that starting from 1st of January 2015 the Board of the new Han Groen Prakken Institute - The European Psychoanalytic Institute (EPI) has started to plan its work and activities for 2015 and the following years.  Some aspects of these plans and the EPI's work will be further discussed at the Board's meeting to take place on March 20-22, 2015 and also during the EPF conference in Stockholm. Soon after this will inform you on all other issues in detail.

1.  The EPI Annual School in 2015.   We are very pleased to inform you about the EPI first "integration" annual School to take place in 2015 in Italy, Iseo (near Brescia), 8th - 14th November 2015.  Arrival - Sunday afternoon, November 8th;  departure - Saturday morning, November 14th.  This School is being organized by the EPI in close cooperation with the Italian Psychoanalytic Society (SPI). The theme of the School will be "Analytic Field and Analytic Forest: paths and impasses in the psychoanalytic process".  The plenary lectures will be given by Stefano Bolognini (IPA president, SPI past-president), Serge Frisch, (EPF president),  Antonino Ferro (SPI president), Jorge Canestri (past-president of the AIPsi - Italian Association of Psychoanalysis) and Adele Lupinacci (SPI Training Analyst).  Since we anticipate a heavy demand for places from potentially interested participants from difference Societies and Study Groups and since this annual School is the only meeting point for the EPI candidates, registered analysands and members you are strongly recommended not only to reserve the dates, but also to book your place quickly after you receive the information letter from the School's organizing committee.

2. Annual Reports. All EPI candidates and registered analysands are now kindly requested  to send their regular annual reports to Dr. Cristoph Walker - EPI associate director for training - christoph.walker@t-online.de

3. Mentors and Mentees. It is also necessary to choose your mentors from the list of the EPI's Board and Staff members (see below). You are kindly invited to do it as soon as possible.

4. Franziska Henningsen: It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Franziska Henningsen on 3.02.2015. She was a close colleague, a friend or teacher for many of us, also for several years a member of the SC to Moscow. It is a profound loss for all those who knew her, also thanks to several PIEE events, where she participated as a teacher.

Sincerely yours
